Lloyd Grotjan’s nature photography represents the “full spectrum” of photographic processes. Lloyd shoots, processes and prints all his own material for exhibit, from the purity of black & white prints done traditionally with a view camera and darkroom to the current cutting edge technology of digital files, and desktop publishing. “I’m very interested in the process, but I try to keep the technique secondary to the aesthetic. I’ve gone through different phases in my personal photographic pursuits. For a while I only shot large format Black & White material, then Kodachrome and Velvia Slides, now I’m shooting mostly digital.” Whether a conventional print or computer altered image all Lloyd’s photographs display an attention to detail and intimacy through composition, lighting and perspective.
